School counselors help students academically by implementing strategies and activities to support and maximize each students ability to learn (ASCA 2014) 

Career

School counselors help students understand the connections between the school and work worlds. They also help students plan for and make a plan to successfully transition from high school to postsecondary education or the world of work (ASCA 2014)

Also known as "Social and Emotional Development", school counselors can help students manage their emotions as well as learn and apply interpersonal skills
