- MN state law requires students to be in attendance at school for:
- K-6th Grade: 27 hours per week
- 7th-12th Grade: 30 hours per week
- Attendance is tracked from Sunday to Saturday, so work can be done on weekend to earn the required hours
- Learning Coaches should be entering accurate attendance daily for all students in the household, from their Learning Coach account. Students are not able to enter their own attendance hours.
- 10 overdues or less is considered "On Track" and full attendance can be awarded.
- Attendance hours may be adjusted by Advisors and Admin to match work submission if full attendance is consistently submitted but students are signficantly behind, as well as, if truancy concerns arise.
Excused Absences are necessary from time to time. Please notify your Advisor as soon as possible when these come up. Often times a note from a doctor or a therapist is necessary. We want to be sure we are on on the same page and have a plan about paperwork needed and support to get caught up.
Vacation Days are built into our MNCA schedule.
- On these days, there will be no daily lessons or LiveLessons® for students.
- You may not enter more than your allotted vacation days throughout the school year. If you are going to be absent, please reach out to your academic advisor to make a plan for attendance and swapping/flexing days.
- Please work with your advisory/homeroom teacher for Excused Absences and Vacation Days
- Families can choose to work on scheduled vacation days and bank the vacation days for another day. For example, if there is a scheduled School Vacation on January 21st, but your family is out of town on January 15th, your student would continue to work over scheduled school break (they would work ahead in their courses). You would mark attendance hours on the School Vacation day and communicate with your advisor so the Vacation Day can be used in place of attendance for the other date. If you choose to use this time other than as scheduled in the school calendar, please let your Academic Advisor know to ensure attendance is properly recorded.
- Students with attendance issues:
- Students who do not complete work as regularly scheduled will be invoved in different interventions by our staff. If attendance and lesson completion continues to be a concern, we will have a legal obligation to report their attendance to the county.
- Students who do not turn in work for an extended period of time may be withdrawn for inactivity. It is very important for students to sign in daily and complete assigned lessons.
